Making Predicatability A Priority

One of the core objectives of Heartland Dental Care dentists and dentistry in general is to help patients achieve ideal dental health that looks aesthetically pleasing, and more importantly, improves their well being and quality of life. In short, Heartland dentists look out for our patients' best interests by treatment planning from the heart.

Heartland dentists uphold their patients' needs by using effective treatment plan- ning that accounts for predictability. Effective treatment planning should en- compass both comprehensive diagnostics and strong patient communication.

To best develop a predictable, efficient treatment plan, our dentists follow a comprehensive diagnostic process, including

  • An interview with the patient to discuss their dental issues and history
  • A clinical examination, including a soft tissue exam, occlusal exam, teeth exam and supporting structures exam
  • Photographs and x-rays to detect possible problems that can't be found with an exam

After diagnosis, Heartland dentists clearly explain the findings to the patient in a way they can understand. Many times what a patient wants and what they truly need can differ. Therefore, our dentists communicate with patients in order to merge their desires with their health needs as determined by the diagnostics. Unless a patient completely comprehends their dental problems and the consequences of leaving those problems untreated, they may not fully commit to treatment. The dentist and patient must be on the same page.

"Many times what a patient wants and what they truly need can differ. Therefore, our dentists communicate with patients in order to merge their desires with their health needs as determined by the diagnostics."

Once problems are identified and explained by the dentist, treatment is completed in this sequence to maximize proficiency and predictability

  • Treat immediate pain and surgical concerns first
  • If necessary, takecare of initial scaling, root planing or cavity control treatment
  • Begin restorative treatment

No matter what treatment option is used, our dentists' goals remain the same – to utilize the least amount of dentistry to restore functionality and health to the patient for the present and the future.

At Heartland, dentists value the chance to improve the quality of their patients' smiles, knowing the first-rate oral health those smiles represent. Because Heartland dentists employ structured treatment plans that effectively allow them to predict results, patients can enjoy the best of both worlds – a smile that's attractive and healthy.
