Success from the Start
Dr. LEADS gives new dentists the right tools for success
Heartland Dental is an organization that supports doctors as the leaders of their practices. As recent graduates start their careers, it is important for them to feel comfortable in leading their practice with confidence. Heartland Dental takes pride in helping newly affiliated dentists succeed in their careers right from the start. To instill this core belief within each and every affiliated dentist, new doctors are invited to attend Dr. LEADS - Learning Essentials for Achieving Dental Success.

Formerly known as Doctor Dental University, Dr. LEADS is a five-day course held every summer at The Institute at Heartland Dental, located at Home Office in Effingham, Illinois. Each summer, more than 100 recent graduates join practices supported by Heartland Dental. Entering a new career and new phase of life brings plenty of questions and even some anxieties. To help these new dentists feel at ease and acquaint them with Heartland Dental’s culture of support, Dr. LEADS introduces them to the company mission, vision and beliefs, which are shared by the executive team and company leaders.
In addition to becoming familiar with Heartland Dental's culture, attendees are presented with a variety of clinical topics and information to help them excel in the dental office setting. Clinicians and industry leaders educate dentists in areas such as treatment planning, charting and documenting, periodontal treatment and more. This past summer's course included WaveOne Endodontics training from Dr. George Bruder and Invisalign Fundamental training from Dr. Mark Hodge, Clinical Director and practicing dentist at Berkshire Dental Group in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
"Coming out of dental school, there is still plenty to learn from a clinical standpoint," said Kristen Vogel, DMD, practicing dentist at BullheadCityDentist.com in Bullhead City, Arizona. "The information presented to us by top clinicians at Dr. LEADS made me feel much more confident in accepting cases and delivering treatment to my patients."
Dr. LEADS also gives newly affiliated dentists several networking opportunities to provide them with support and insight during their first year and beyond. Attendees get to know their administrative team members and build relationships with fellow dentists. A doctor panel, which features four affiliated dentists who participated in the course the previous year, allows Dr. LEADS participants to ask questions and learn from the experiences of doctors who were in their shoes just a year earlier.
"The Dr. LEADS course equipped me with the tools I need to lead my team with confidence" said Dr. Vogel. "I know that with Heartland Dental, I'll always have the administrative support I need to succeed in my career."
