"We're so happy with where we are in our careers right now, and truly appreciate how HDC has allowed us more time for our family life."
Running a dental practice can be a full-time job and then some. For dentists with families, one of the best benefits HDC offers is more free time for families. This is certainly significant for Dr. Jennifer Kearschner and Dr. Jared Kearschner of Edgewood Family Dental. Jennifer and Jared are a husband and wife dental team with a four-year-old daughter, so balancing dentistry and home life is important.
"It's always been my dream to be a part-time dentist, so I can be a stay-at-home mom too." said Dr. Jennifer Kearschner. "HDC has been completely supportive of that and has helped accommodate my wishes."
Both Jennifer and Jared are originally from Salem, Indiana, and met as kids in church. Early on, both Jennifer and Jared had aspirations of pursuing dentistry. The two started dating in high school and married in 2004. They welcomed their first child in 2008.
"Dentistry was always something we talked about in high school. When I was 15, I assisted a local Salem dentist and went on to graduate from the Indiana University School of Dentistry," said Dr. Jennifer Kearschner. "Jared is very artistically talented and was encouraged by his father to pursue a science career. After job-shadowing dentists, Jared realized that dentistry combined the best of both worlds of science and art, and attended the Indiana University School of Dentistry also."
After graduating dental school in 2008, Jennifer learned of the company from some fellow dentists and decided to join HDC. Her husband, Jared, joined her at Edgewood Family Dental after his own graduation in 2011. Now, both work side-by-side providing caring, compassionate dentistry with HDC's aid.
"It still feels like we have our own office, but with so much help and support along the way," said Dr. Jared Kearschner. "During the recruiting process, everyone we met was genuine, caring and morally strong. They all do their best to help us succeed. Many of my classmates practicing on their own aren't getting the same level of growth and education that I'm getting at HDC."
Working together has been an enjoyable, convenient experience for both Jennifer and Jared. It has also allowed them to set a schedule that best fits their personal lives.
"We get along great, and it's nice to have a colleague to help out with patients. We're able to set a schedule that works for both of us," said Dr. Jennifer Kearschner. "The transition of adding Jared to the practice has been so easy; I already had great relationships with our patients, and he's been able to quickly establish relationships with them too. Our schedules also allow us to accommodate our patients."
Both Drs. Jennifer and Jared Kearschner are living their dreams of becoming successful dentists, and with HDC's help, they're enjoying an ideal family life.
