In Loving Memory

Honoring Dr. Heidi Everley

"She had a strong love and commitment for family. It was this type of love and commitment that made her a great dentist and leader."

In November 2011, Heartland Dental Care lost a beloved team member, Dr. Heidi Everley, after her long, courageous battle with cancer. Dr. Everley was an exceptional leader and caring person who touched many lives with her kindness and compassion.

"She had such a contagious laugh and took so much pleasure out of life. She always challenged everyone to be the best they could possibly be, in more ways than one!" said Nanette Bragg, Regional Recruiter. "Her family was extremely important to her, and she loved her husband, children and siblings tremendously. Everyone looked up to her; she was an amazing person, friend and teacher."

Dr. Everley joined Heartland Dental Care in 2002 after excelling at the University of Kansas and the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry. During her time at HDC, she practiced at Marketplace Dental Care in Indianapolis for seven years before returning home to Kansas and joining Deer Creek Family Dental Care in 2009. She brightened the lives of both patients and team members.

"She was an optimistic person who looked to the future. She was dedicated to her patients, team and family. Even though she was fighting for her life, she still saw dentistry as a gift to help others and never gave up on providing hope to those around her," said Nancee Shinn, Dr. Everley's former Regional Director of Operations.

Shinn also added, "I remember her smile, laughter and strength. She would often speak about her children and the joy they brought to her life. She shared how she wanted to provide them with as many great memories as possible. She had a strong love and commitment for family, and it was this type of love and commitment that made her a great dentist and leader."

Dr. Everley will be remembered as a remarkable dentist and true patient advocate, but more importantly, as a loving mother, wife and friend.

"She grew up wanting to be a dentist and was so appreciative that Heartland Dental Care provided her with her first shot," said Mark Everley, Heidi's husband. "She really enjoyed working with HDC and those in the company. I'm obviously biased, but I think she made a great impact on her patients and her colleagues."

A fund has been created in memory of Dr. Everley. Donations can be sent to the KU Endowment Association, Heidi Everley Fund, PO Box 928, Lawrence, KS 66044.
