Since its inception, dentistry has evolved tremendously. Its origins can be traced back as far as the ancient Babylonians, Egyptians and Greeks. Thousands of years later, dentistry officially became a profession in the 1840s, with the creation of the first dental school and the rise of the dental office to follow. Since then, this evolution has taken dentistry to new heights. With improved techniques, advanced technology and specialized areas of practice, modern dentists have the tools and knowledge to create beautiful, healthy smiles like never before.

The Evolution of Goldstein, Garber & Salama, LLC

Goldstein, Garber & Salama, LLC was founded on the progressive ideas of Dr. Irving Goldstein, Dr. Ronald Goldstein’s father. A dentist ahead of his time, Dr. Irving Goldstein was one of the first to practice and teach both conservative and preventative dentistry. Dedicated to providing preventative and minimally-invasive dentistry, he established what would become Goldstein, Garber & Salama, LLC in 1929. As years passed, he would also be joined by his brother, Marvin, a renowned orthodontist, and his cousin Dr. Theodore Levitas, a leading figure in pediatric dentistry.

Hygenist

"I can’t say enough about the groundbreaking contributions my father made to the dental world, the success he brought to this office and the impact he’s had on my own dental career," explained Dr. Ronald Goldstein. "Dentistry has always played a large role in my family. Carrying on that legacy has been extremely gratifying."

Joining the office in 1959, he has indeed carried on his family’s dental legacy and built his own along the way. Attending the University of Michigan and graduating from Emory University School of Dentistry, Dr. Goldstein’s pioneering work in esthetics has earned him the title “father of modern cosmetic dentistry” in the eyes of many. Throughout his career, he has received many awards in his field and has been an active writer on a variety of topics relating to smile enhancement. Dr. Goldstein is a featured columnist for Southern Seasons Magazine and a member of the editorial advisory board for New Beauty Magazine. In addition, he is the author of the best-selling book, Change Your Smile, which is now in its fourth edition and has been read by millions worldwide.

"Our rare combination of collective skills has brought our office international recognition as pioneers in modern, comprehensive dental care. With this shared knowledge under one roof, we’re able to help each other become ever better at our craft."

As Dr. Goldstein was becoming known for his cosmetic work, the office gained two more top dental minds with the additions of Dr. David Garber and Dr. Maurice Salama. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Garber has extensive experience with both periodontics and fixed prosthodontics, a rare and valuable combination for a dentist. Also a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Salama brought experience and expertise in periodontics and orthodontics, including Invisalign, implants and periodontal surgery. Like Dr. Goldstein, both Dr. Garber and Dr. Salama frequently author and publish articles for a variety of dental sources. From the legacy of Dr. Irving Goldstein and the talents of these three dentists, the contemporary office of Goldstein, Garber & Salama, LLC was born.

"It’s been a pleasure and honor to work alongside Dr. Garber and Dr. Salama,” said Dr. Goldstein. “Our rare combination of collective skills has brought our office international recognition as pioneers in modern, comprehensive dental care. With this shared knowledge under one roof, we’re able to help each other become ever better at our craft."

Today, their first-class office caters to the Atlanta community, with 14 operatories, two surgical suites and an in-house laboratory for ceramics. It’s widely considered to be one of the most advanced, luxurious dental offices in the world.

Breaking the Dental Office Mold

On average, a dental office will include one or two dentists, who may have one or two specialists. However, Goldstein, Garber & Salama, LLC has taken a radically different approach than the traditional office arrangement.

When Dr. Ronald Goldstein joined the office in 1959, he recognized how beneficial incorporating virtually all dental specialties in one office could be. As time passed, this philosophy would revolutionize the office, and soon the dental industry. Having dually-trained specialists has helped Goldstein, Garber & Salama, LLC become the visionary office it’s recognized as today, setting themselves apart from their peers.

"Our comprehensive experience in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, periodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, prosthodontics and more gives us the ability to cover all bases of our patients’ oral health needs."

Dr. Goldstein’s goal was to optimize patient care by having consultations under one roof and at the same time―a goal which the team has emphatically met. With this unique approach, they offer patients the most efficient solutions to their dental needs, without ever having to refer them out to other specialists.

"We want to offer patients the most convenient, first-rate care possible. Our office setup is the ideal way to accomplish this,” explained Dr. Garber. “Our comprehensive experience in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, periodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, prosthodontics and more gives us the ability to cover all bases of our patients’ oral health needs."

This comprehensive knowledge isn’t limited to the expertise of Dr. Goldstein, Dr. Garber and Dr. Salama. The office also features a number of other dentists with backgrounds in general dentistry, restorative dentistry, oral surgery, prosthodontics and periodontics. Rounding out the team of talented and respected dental specialists are Drs. Maha El-Sayed, Abtin Shahriari, Wendy AuClair Clark, Henry Salama and Nadia Esfandiari.

"With our office model, I believe we’re setting an important example for optimal patient care that has rarely been seen in dentistry,” said Dr. Maurice Salama. “In our office, having a team of colleagues around to share ideas and solve problems with together is beneficial for everyone. Our camaraderie makes us better dentists, which means happier, healthier patients."

After establishing themselves as one of the most progressive dental offices in the world, Goldstein, Garber & Salama, LLC affiliated with Heartland Dental Care in December 2012. Sharing similar values and beliefs, this affiliation was a perfect fit for both parties.

"The leadership philosophy of Dr. Goldstein, Dr. Garber and Dr. Salama is an ideal match with HDC," said Justin Wendling, Director of Affiliations at Heartland Dental Care. "They all have involvement with education in the dental industry in some way, whether it’s teaching, lecturing or writing. HDC has that same level of commitment to supporting dentists in furthering their knowledge and abilities."
